Abstract

In the new stage of economic development, ESG is an important concept for sustainable enterprise operation. Under the green development orientation, how to embed the multiple responsibilities of corporate environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) into the corporate innovation system and drive the transformation of traditional innovation to green innovation and green development has become a focus of attention in the academic community. This paper examines the impact of ESG performance of listed companies on corporate green technological innovation using Chinese A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2017 to 2023 as a research sample. The results of the study show that ESG performance can promote corporate green technology innovation, and financing constraints have a mediating effect between the two.
