Abstract

The basic Japanese language training conducted in Petak Village, Gianyar Regency is aimed at local tour guides. It is expected to improve the knowledge and skills of the tour guides, especially in communicating Japanese. As the time available is not so long, this training is designed using a communicative approach method, namely Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). The Communicative Language Teaching method aims to develop learners’ communication skills in Japanese by emphasizing the use of language in real-life contexts, such as everyday conversations, role-plays, and simulations. The focus is on interaction between learners and teachers as well as between learners. This method promotes collaborative learning and provides opportunities for learners to actively practice. Japanese through various theme-based activities, such as getting to know each other, booking tours, exchanging money, and so on. Through this approach, it is hoped that learners will develop confidence in communicating in Japanese as well as understanding the cultural context that surrounds them.
