Abstract

As carbon emission increases significantly with the development of the economy, a series of environmental problems have occurred so far. The investigation of the dual-carbon target has become a frontier science to alleviate the contradiction between the environment and the economy. To investigate the effect of governance and technology on the environment and economy, dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model which is calibrated for the Chinese economy is proposed under the dual-carbon target. It can be observed from the results that technological innovation shows incentive to economic development. However, it shows differences in environmental improvement in the short and long terms, respectively. In addition, governance shows a negative influence on the economy. In order to be effective in emission reduction, governance needs to be combined with a carbon trading mechanism.
