Abstract

In academic libraries, automation and digitized intelligence are transforming the means of production and access to information. A technology project, the Automated News Curation System (ANCS), has been developed and utilized to improve scholarly research and education. The system, presented in the context of Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) News Digest is built using Google News RSS feeds, Google Sheet as well as Google App script with triggers to give real time updates based on a topic. The mechanism offers a daily refresh of content, as well as date, publisher and keyword filtering through dashboard customization, along with a 30-day select rolling archive to maintain output relevance. Covering a broad variety of technology, business, and science topics across disciplines from policy to higher education, the ANCS-driven Digest is a dynamic intelligence hub directly in your cloud whenever and where ever. Its universal capabilities benefit students, teachers, researchers and institutional decision-makers by transforming the existing digital environment into a channeled research-minded intelligence resource. The paper primarily focuses on the design and development of the ANCS model that helps news information curation for efficient and real-time news distribution using Google-based automation like Google Sheets, RSS Feeds, and AI scripts.
