Abstract

This chapter identifies eight important underlying thematic ideas that are explored and developed in the following chapters in part one on the history of classical monetary theory and its influence on the subsequent development of monetary theory and macroeconomics and in part two on the contributions of Hawtrey, Keynes, and Hayek and their importance for the development of monetary theory and macroeconomics.
