Abstract

The way in which exchanges operate and compete is rapidly changing in connection with an extensive process of consolidation which is contributing to a reshaping of the exchange industries’ structure. Technological developments and regulatory reforms have contributed to the falling of national barriers and gave rise to growing competition from peers and new operators which forced incumbents to react with cross border mergers.
