Abstract

Africa is the least-developed continent in the world today, as is evident from the low levels of per capita income in many African countries. Among other things there is a lack of infrastructure, including telecommunication linkages with the outside world and within Africa, low levels of technological innovation, low expenditure on research and development (R&D) and inadequate social services.
