Abstract

Eco-labelling in the importing markets can both provide opportunities for and be a constraint to the exports of developing countries. In this respect, there are two important questions which are discussed in the other chapters in this volume. Firstly, how to benefit from the existing eco-labelling schemes and, secondly, how to devise eco-labelling schemes that take into account the legitimate environmental and/or economic interests of the developing countries.
