Managing the Margin Spread

Abstract

The concept of the margin spread was introduced in Chapter 2. It will be recalled that it was suggested there that the margin spread, the difference between the gross margin and the operating margin, was an important feature in performance management because it indicates how well the gross margin covers the operating costs of the business and contributes towards profit.
