Abstract

The world’s economy is undergoing an exciting restructuring process; the Comecon states are opening up to the market economy, German reunification brings with it a totally new economic set-up, the Asian Pacific countries are pushing development of their economies ever further, and Western Europe is expanding the EC common market. The US is seeking to regain its economic supremacy, and Japan continues her own relentless economic growth. The economic restructuring process also has consequences for the global competitiveness of the concerned companies: managers have to reformulate the global strategies of their companies to face the new circumstances.
