Abstract

During the past two to three decades developing countries have been involved in high technology as a result of high technology transfer from developed to developing countries. This is relevant for (micro) computer equipment particularly. ‘High-tech’ played an important role in urban and regional planning in developing countries also. This chapter mainly focuses on microcomputerisation in urban and regional planning in developing countries. Related to the issue of transfer is the concept of mobility which needs to get more attention to make clear that high-tech is important for developing countries. However, this is only the case if that high-tech suits the circumstances of these countries.
