Abstract

Kahn, Richard F. (1905- ). British economist who had a major influence on economics at Cambridge from the 1930s to the 1970s. His reputation and influence vastly exceeded his published work, of which his Selected Essays On Employment And Growth (1973) contain his major contributions. He is credited with the introduction of the concept of the multiplier and for important work in the 1930s in welfare economics in establishing conditions for a social optimum.
