How does Britain Compare with Other Industrialised Countries?

Abstract

We can place the changes which are occurring in Britain in the context of developments in a selection of other industrialised countries. The Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) examined the extent of deregulation in industrialised countries over the 1980s. We could conclude from its interest in this topic that deregulation is a widespread phenomenon, but further examination suggests that this is not an accurate representation of what is a very complex picture.
