The Future of ‘Traditional Banking’

Abstract

Never has there been such a period of practical revolutionary change in banking and financial markets as has been experienced during the past two decades. Many of these changes, especially those associated with technology and IT, are irreversible. Bankers, students of banking, strategists and policymakers need to re-appraise their views, strategies and theories in this new environment. Some banks are already re-assessing the use of the word ‘bank’ in their name and marketing literature.
