Abstract

The Argentine cigarette industry’s particularly dynamic development since the second half of the 1960s has been reflected not only in the high growth rates in sales, but also, even more eloquently, in the introduction of new forms and kinds of cigarettes. The latter phenomenon has occurred through the local manufacture of internationally known brands and internationally developed forms and types of cigarettes, such as the 100 mm and 120 mm lengths, and those with low nicotine content. This had led to the adoption of a similar consumption pattern to the one prevailing in developed countries.
