Monetary and Financial Cooperation

Abstract

A review of the main features of the monetary and financial cooperation between socialist countries and of the most significant of the institutions through which it is carried out — under the influence of CMEA or as a result of its direct action — presents intricate problems because of the nature of the relations existing in such areas between centrally planned economies. These problems have only arisen in a tangible form in the last few years, when the need for integration within CMEA has become more pressing, demanding an overall coordination of the economic, monetary and financial policies of the member-countries.
