Abstract

The member-states have introduced by stages a common agricultural policy, as required by the Treaty of Rome. It is financed from a central fund and covers over 90 per cent of the Community’s agricultural production. Free trade markets for beef and veal and milk products were introduced in 1964; for olive oil in 1966; for grain, pigmeat, eggs and poultry, oils and fats, rice and sugar in 1967; for plants and flowers and processed fruit and vegetables in 1968; for wine, flax and hemp, and tobacco in 1970; for fish in 1971, see page 106.
