Empirical Evidence on Land Values, Property Values, and Population Density

Abstract

In the two preceding chapters we set out a theory of household location and a theory of the supply of space. It was shown that these theories, if correct, implied that the value of land, rent per space unit, and density per space unit should all decline at a diminishing rate with distance from the city centre. In this chapter these implications of the theory will be tested.
