Abstract

The most important types of the ECA cover are the supplier credit and buyer credit cover, both of which cover the risk of non-payment of a credit by a foreign buyer. However, exporters and banks deal with other types of risks connected to export transactions for which they need cover from ECAs. These risks may arise in an early stage of an export transaction, before the date for delivery of goods or services to a foreign buyer, and after completing the delivery. In order to support their national exports, numerous ECAs provide cover for several types of risks that differ from the risk of non-payment of credit by a foreign buyer. In addition, ECAs follow development in the international trade and facilitate the needs of exporters and banks by issuing specially tailored policies for complex export transactions. These special policies include several types of risks.
