Abstract

This chapter attempts to bring about a discussion of the points raised in the previous chapters, on why the countries written about are uniquely placed to develop such a formalized high-cost credit industry, what kind of arguments have been developed in recent times about payday lending, as well as a detailed look into what has happened when the supply of high-cost credit has been reduced. It then goes over the common themes of the industry, its controversy, and how borrowers have interacted with it.
