Abstract

Henry Ford, who started his own revolution a century ago, once said: “History is more or less bunk. It is tradition. We do not want tradition. We want to live in the present, and the only history that is worth a tinker’s damn is the history we make today.” Like Ford, today’s partisans of the new economy, rightly, can be criticized for an oversized sense of their own uniqueness: Never before had technology been so transforming such that the laws of economics are being challenged.
