The Career Path and Working within the Organization

Abstract

Nothing can be more disappointing to a project manager than feeling disempowered or thinking that you have no choices in your career. Why do so many people have difficulty with this subject? It is because it is about you, your own personal goals and ambitions, and your own personal decisions. There are both horizontal and vertical careers paths, but the path for promotion within an organization is not always visible. Observation of who is promoted in an organization is important because there may be advantages to the horizontal career path.
