Abstract

The information provided in Chapters 1 through 10 should be sufficient to provide an understanding of the processes involved in the construction and application of predictive models of consumer behavior. In this chapter the following additional topics are discussed: Modeling and validation when only small samples are available. Alternative methods of assessing model performance. These are particularly useful when two competing models are being compared. Stress testing. This is about assessing the sensitivity of models to changes in the distribution of the predictor variables and/or environmental factors that alter the relationship between the predictor variables and consumer behavior.
