Abstract

Irrespective of a manager’s functional discipline, the prospect of becoming involved in a project involving the Internet can be daunting. Not only is there the barrier of technical jargon but more critically the need to make decisions in an area where there is little accumulated experience and few absolute rules of best practice. In common with any major project that involves changing the method of work and the utilisation of new business processes, the problems are rarely related to the big issues but rather to ensuring that the multitude of ensuing small tasks are completed. ‘The devil is in the detail’ is most appropriate to Internet-related projects.
