Energy Substitution Modelling

Abstract

The analysis of substitution among energy sources remains one of the main issues in energy economy and policy. The extent of substitution in energy demand can bring about important changes in energy balance sheets and cause profound changes in energy supply. An obvious example is the substitution of oil for natural gas, which has occurred in many countries over the last 30 years, in power generation, industry and households.
