Abstract

At the outset of this book the objective was to take an impartial but commercial view of the sustainability battlefield and to test my perceptions of both CSR public relations and the conflicting worlds of business, government and society. I use the term ‘battlefield’ because that was my perception of the high-profile missiles being hurled between the various participants. As one would expect, in the course of this journey of investigation and deliberation I learned much about the challenges, contradictions and passions that exist at every level of society. The issue is whether the journey has changed my views and perceptions; in my case fundamentally it has not, though it has perhaps encouraged me to be a little more tolerant of the tree-huggers, and I wonder if it will stimulate readers to challenge their own thinking: We are after all part of the same global community.
