Abstract

This chapter presents the plan for construction of the average hourly compensation (AHC) series and a general outline of the construction procedure. First, the general characteristics of the series are discussed. Some properties of the series are determined from the methodological considerations discussed in chapter 1. Other properties have an operational nature. Second, the fundamental steps in generating the series are shown sequentially. Only the general outline of the procedure is provided. For justification of the procedure adopted and for full details of data construction, chapters five and six should be consulted.
