Abstract

James Rosenquist, the acclaimed American artist, has applied his experience of painting large billboards as a young man to his current creation of super-large canvases. By taking fragmented, unrelated images and combining these in provocative ways on his canvases, he has gained the reputation of being a leading pop artist. His many retrospectives include the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne, Germany. He is exhibited at the leading world galleries and museums, and receives large-scale commissions from around the world. His numerous awards include the Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievements and the Fundación Cristóbal Gabarrón award in Spain.
