Basic Concepts of the Creative Process

Abstract

Innovation and Creativity are two indispensable factors for a company to remain in a competitive position.1 In Chapter 13, we presented the Stage Director as the principal source of innovation in an opera theatre. This role as a source of innovation is coupled with that of being the creative element in pursuit of excellence. In this chapter, we want to analyse not only how a creative process is generated, but also how this process can help to create an environment in which the creativity of others can flourish and in turn complement the process. A third aspect to analyse, and one that’s complementary to the previous two, is his role as custodian of the materialisation of the idea, of its shaping in reality.
