Managing Conflict

Abstract

Assertiveness is about connection between people. Conflict can provide people with an opportunity to develop assertive relationships and to connect with each other more honestly. A fundamental attitude of self-respect and respect of others underpins managing conflict assertively. The conflict may not necessarily be resolved; however, people who have managed conflict assertively are able to develop “bigger” relationships in which there is a deeper and greater understanding of each other.
