Abstract

KURT ROTHSCHILD was born and educated in Vienna, where he now lives. Rothschild fled to Scotland after the Anschluss, and taught at the University of Glasgow until his return to Austria in 1947. He worked at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research for almost twenty years, and in 1966 was appointed Professor of Economics at the University of Linz. Kurt Rothschild is the editor of the influential Power in Economics (Penguin, 1971), and the author of The Theory of Wages (Blackwell, 1954) and Ethics and Economic Theory (Elgar, 1993). A collection of his essays, Employment, Wages and Income Distribution, was published by Routledge in 1993.
