Crime and Nuisance: The Managers’ Perspective

Abstract

The next logical step in the exploration of crime and nuisance in town centres and shopping centres was to examine the views of town-centre and shopping-centre managers. It is arguable that the managers had a rather more informed perspective on crime and nuisance than had ordinary members of the public, partly because they had formal obligations in the fields of safety and security. The questionnaires made it clear that respondents were to answer the questions on the basis of their professional experience in the particular environment in which they were currently working.
