Abstract

This chapter approaches the idea of social responsibility and common good across the real social challenge of Central Europe and observes if Hungarian companies participate in the solution of the Roma1 population’s problems. We explore if Hungarian companies’ social responsibility projects are in line with the significance of the Roma crisis. We support this analysis with an overview of the social history of the Hungarian Roma population and their current social situation. We also describe the attitudes towards CSR in Hungarian corporate culture and try to describe the motivations of gypsy oriented social responsibility projects and the reasons for the low number of such initiatives.
