Abstract

Firms like individuals have inherent asymmetries in resource, competence and network bases. The resource base could include land, physical assets, properties and capital. The competence base could include information, knowledge, skills, engineering, technology and the power to innovate in different fields. The network base could include networks in politics, legal system, bureaucracy, institutions, business, industry and in the international domain. A firm’s dynamism is a function of strengths in these different bases.
