Abstract

Caltech, or the The California Institute of Technology, is distributed over 124 acres of land in Pasadena, California. With 32 Nobel prizes to its name (for 31 recipients — Linus Pauling won two prizes for chemistry and peace!), Caltech is an institution with a fearsome reputation for intellectual excellence. In the 1960’s, roughly about the time that Zimbardo stretched the ethical limits of experimental psychology at Harvard, Richard Feynman was Professor of Theoretical Physics and working furiously on a range of problems at the boundaries of science.
