Abstract

This case study is set in Singapore in an international shipping company’s Asia Head Office. The company offers tracked shipping services by air, road, train and sea, and prides itself on being able to tell its customers, day or night, where their shipment is and when it is due to arrive at its destination. The company’s technology team has designed leading edge tracking equipment for use on all its parcels, packages and consignments. The technology team head is Lan Xhiao. Her number two is Satoshi. They have worked together for 18 months, since Satoshi moved from the Tokyo office. However, while the tracking technology is effective and well regarded by customers and business units, other aspects of the technology team’s performance are not getting such rave reviews.
