Abstract

The empowerment of one heroic leader to run complex organizations, making lone decisions at the top, is anything but rational. Anyone who steps into a leadership role has to learn to develop groups that in turn can help solve organizational problems that are difficult to solve alone. As stated in the Preface, this book presents a model of group development that provides insight into the stages that all groups must pass through if they are to perform to their full potential. Through so doing, we provide readers with an understanding of the process of group life playing out around them, emphasizing that meaningful leadership action necessitates taking full account of context.
