Dealing with Inactive Minority Shareholders

Abstract

Many family disputes are the result of conflicts between inactive family shareholders and active family shareholders. The inactive family shareholders who do not receive adequate information about the business may feel estranged and this can result in family disputes. Without effective communication, inactive family shareholders may view the employed family shareholders as receiving all the benefits and rewards of the business and perceive that they are being treated unfairly.
