Abstract

With a population of 522,830 people, Wyoming was the least populous state in the United States in 2007. From 2000 to 2007 the state’s population increased by 29,048 people, and is projected to increase to 529,031 people by 2025. This 0.1% projected annual growth rate compares to the projected national average of 0.8%. From 2006 to 2007 the state’s population grew by 1.5%. The state’s 2007 per capita personal income of $47,038 was higher compared to $40,569 in 2006 and the fourth highest in the United States, some $8,474 above the national average. Per capita income in Wyoming grew at a compound annual rate of 7.4% from 2000 to 2007, compared to 3.7% nationally.
