The Impact of the ‘Polish Crisis’ on East-West Trade

Abstract

This paper should not be regarded as an attempt to argue that the ‘Polish Crisis’ is the principal factor responsible for the substantial decrease in East-West trade in the early 1980s. The author is very well aware that the ‘Polish crisis’ constitutes just one of several factors which influenced East-West trade recently.
