Abstract

The gross domestic product of Argentina in 1978 was 1.3 per cent lower than it had been four years earlier, in 1974. In the intervening period there had been only one year of growth, in 1977, and three of recession. Nevertheless, urban unemployment rates in 1978 were 30 per cent lower than in 1974.1
