Monitoring the Economic and Social Weather in the Philippines

Abstract

While it is often clear, on the basis of a broad set of historical information, that social, economic and political developments are closely interrelated, it is another thing to demonstrate it quantitatively. Such empirical analysis, ideally, would be based on a time-series of data on social, economic and political variables. The process of generating such data, however, is very difficult.
