Abstract

For some time, problems of price theory and price policy have met with an extremely active interest in Western Germany. On the one hand, this may be due to the greater attention paid to questions of economic theory in Germany since 1945 as the isolation of the German sciences from those of other nations came to an end; on the other hand, it may be due to the transition from a planned, fully-controlled economy to a free market-economy, which was carried out by the former Minister of Economics, Professor Ludwig Erhard, in 1948.
