Abstract

The objective of this paper is to review briefly the trends observed in the growth of national and per capita income in Pakistan during the past twenty years. For purposes of economic analysis, this period of twenty years can be conveniently divided into two periods. The first began with independence and continued until the end of the 1950s. The second period started with the implementation of the Second Plan in 1960 and is likely to continue until 1970, when the Third Plan will come to an end.
