Wage Indexation and the Evolution of Returns to Education in Italy, 1978–92

Abstract

In this chapter I study the effect of a specific institution — the Scala Mobile (SM) — on changes in returns to education in Italy between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, using micro data from the Bank of Italy’s Survey of Households’ Income and Wealth.
