Part IV Conclusion

In: Milton Friedman

Author

Listed:
  • James Forder

    (University of Oxford)

Abstract

Conclusions are drawn from the consideration of Friedman’s popular writings. In particular it is noted that the reception of Free to Choose (1980) was much worse than that of Capitalism and Freedom (1962), despite the later book being a much better one. It is suggested that this indicates the loss of esteem Friedman suffered as a result of his sometimes ill-informed public pronouncements, and his apparent involvement with the Pinochet regime.
