Abstract

A variety of causes Friedman did or did not pursue are noted. Friedman’s stated position was that he was a supporter of freedom of the individual. In terms of opposing conscription and supporting the legalization of drugs, those claims are born out. On the other hand, it is noted that he never voiced support for sex work. Other issues on which he wrote are considered. It is also noted that his popular advocacy of the economics of monetary control was not faithful to the precepts of his own research and that this may have contributed to his acquiring a poor reputation amongst academics.
