Professor at Cambridge: 2, Public Addresses, Querulous Dissent and Scenes from College Life

Abstract

Lectures to the undergraduates were, of course, part of the duties for which he was paid as professor. Because of his eminence and prowess as a public speaker, however, he was always in demand for lectures to be given to a wide variety of audiences — to academics, public bodies and industrial and commercial organisations. These together with other contributions to economic debate and book reviews appeared in a steady stream in published form and were collected in a series of volumes of essays (Robertson, 1952, 1953, 1956; these joined earlier collections, of 1931a, 1931b, 1940).
