Abstract

Resilience, judicial independence, empathy As a legal practitioner pursuing justice for citizens, I joined the magistracy with the goal of expanding access to justice for all. The values of resilience, judicial integrity, and the pursuit of excellence informed all my work. This chapter traces the major milestones in my life from my time as a student activist in Zimbabwe to my career as a judge on the UN International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
