Abstract

El medio ambiente influye en el desarrollo de actividades productivas o estrategias de ingreso de las personas (Pender, Ehui y Place 2006; Alwang et al. 2005). Asimismo, cambia sus condiciones de vida, bienestar (Mitchell, Sheperd y Keane 2011; Xiang-feng y Chun-wu 2011) e incluso desarrollo de sus identidades (Sen 1997). El ensayo se centra en el Índice de Manejo de Recursos Naturales (Ciesin, 2011), el cual resume y cuantifica la gestión de recursos naturales a través de áreas protegidas. Asimismo, mide la influencia indirecta de dicho manejo en el bienestar de la población de una región.
